“The two Marked Beast Variants are gifts. I’m giving them to you,” declared Ku Mu.

Tan Laoxi was suddenly excited. “Fuck, yeah!” he mumbled to himself. “I’m a rich man as long as I get the Marked Beast Variant spirit. My luck is so good!”

“You won’t get any share!” Guo Shier snapped.

“What?!?” Tan Laoxi’s mouth was about to curse. Fortunately for him, he stopped himself in time and did not react.

Everyone in Guo Shier’s group was grieving over the injustice. If Tan Laoxi said anything more, he would just provoke the group—and likely die without a burial.

He decided to shut up. He might be annoying, but he was no fool.

Qi Nan Shan’s fierce eyes swept over Tan Laoxi. If says anything bad, I will immediately strike him, he thought.

Tan Laoxi can see that Qi Nan Shan was on the verge of rampage and was looking to take it out on someone. He put his head down and remained silent.

“Master, take care,” Guo Shier said. “Be sure to wait for me to come back. Grandpa Nan Shan, take care. Uncle Xia Feng, take care. Uncle Luo Jing, take care…”

He patiently said goodbye to everyone, except for Tan Laoxi whom he ignored.

Guo Shier added, “Master when you return to North Rune Sect, bring Tan Laoxi with you.”

He Tan Laoxi’s name without any honorifics (note: Mr/Uncle/Grandfather). He wanted his Master to restrict Tan Laoxi’s movements to avoid complications that may arise from disclosing today’s events.

Tan Laoxi’s face changed. “Shier, you can’t…”

“I can,” Guo Shier snapped back. “If you don’t go with Master, I can guarantee that you won’t leave this Secret Realm—forever!”

Everyone understood that this simply meant killing him.

Ku Mu came over and applauded. “I am more and more satisfied. That is the right decision!”

Tan Laoxi was terrified to the very bones. “Big Brother Luo, Grandpa Luo, I’ll follow you. I’ll follow you. Bloody hell! Ah!”

Why did I ever provoke this little ancestor? Tao Laoxi thought to himself. He can’t help but want to slap Guo Shier’s face.

Ku Mu came closer to the group. “Have you agreed to my condition?”

Guo Shier nodded. “Yes. I’ll also take Uncle Ying Mo with us.”

Ku Mu looked at Ying Mo from top to bottom. “Well, although his strength is weak, at least there’s someone to take care of you.”

Ying Mo didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He was in the grasslands for a hundred years. No one has ever said that his strength was weak.

“Master, Grandpa Nan Shan, I’ll be going now,” Guo Shier declared.

Luo Jie was almost in tears. “Shier, my good boy. Take care of yourself. Don’t make me worry. Also, remember what we talked about.”

Luo Jie was talking about the altar.

Guo Shier held back his tears and nodded. “I’ll remember!”

Luo Jie took two Storage Rune Bags from his person and attacked them to Guo Shier’s belt.

“Shier, bring these things with you. Check them out later.”

Guo Shier took a big gasp of air to forcibly hold back his tears.

Ku Mu’s dead stiff face gave a hint of a smile.

With a wave of his hand, a small Rune Gate appeared.

“Look into the spine of the Rune Snake Variant. There are 72 pieces of Snake Beads. Don’t miss it. That’s good stuff.  If you are fortunate enough to see people like me, you can use those Beads to exchange for High Level Runes.”

When Ku Mu finished his explanation, he took Guo Shier and Ying Mo through the Rune Gate.

Guo Shier looked back and smiled at his Master. He could no longer control his tears and let them slide down his cheeks.

The Rune Gate slowly faded, and after a moment, disappeared without a trace.

Luo Jie looked towards the sky and let out a deep sigh. In a blink of an eye, he stared at the now timid Tan Laoxi. His fury broke out immediately.

“Tan Laoxi!!!”

Tan Laoxi was trembling in fear, “He… hey! Luo Old Timer. Hehe! Don’t be angry. I’m really an asshole. I’m not a damn human. I’m just a donkey, a big stupid donkey!”

This time he was scolding himself.

Luo Jie and Qi Nan Shan were getting ready to grill Tan Laoxi, but Tan Laoxi started to continuously scold himself.

Qi Nan Shan sighed. “You are the most shameless, Tan Laoxi.”

Tan Laoxi immediately lowered himself and showed humility.

“Yes! Yes! I am shameless! I’m an asshole! I’m not even human!”

“Enough!” shouted Luo Jie.

“Yes! If Old Timer says Eastward, I would never dare say Westward,” Tan Laoxi continued. “If Old Timer instructs me to kill, I will do it without question.”

“What if the Old Timer told you to eat shit?” Qi Nan Shan asked.

“Then I would dare not drink urine!” answered Tan Laoxi.

The crowed couldn’t believe what they were hearing. This guy was not only thick and shameless. This Grandmaster was also very disgusting.

Luo Jie could no longer listen to him go on. “If you dare to say one more word, I’ll kill you!”

Terrified, Tan Laoxi hastily covered his mouth. He looked at Luo Jie pleadingly.

Qi Nan Shan interrupted. “Forget it! I don’t want to bother about this guy any longer. Old Timer, let’s clean up and return to the North Rune Sect.”

“Alright, let’s go as soon as possible.” Luo Jie agreed. He was extremely frustrated. Guo Shier was his most precious student—and someone just unexpectedly snatched him under his nose. The Old Timer couldn’t help but be angry. For the first time, he deeply wanted to get stronger and improve his powers.

Ku Mu’s strength made Luo Jie realize that the strength that he was proud of was actually nothing.

This was unbearable to Luo Jie.

Tan Laoxi no longer dared to ask for anything. He knew that Old Timer was full of rage. Any kind of spark would make Old Timer explode.

He deeply regretted going to the Secret Realm with Luo Jie’s team. He originally wanted to take advantage of their strength. He couldn’t believe that he would actually lose out.

Luo Jie calmed his nerves and sorted the situation. His mind was a mess.

Ever since Guo Shier took charge of team management, he was able to relax a lot. Now he had to take the burden once more.

“First, let’s clean up the two Marked Beast Variants. Tan Laoxi, give me a hand. Da-Shan, bring some people to help break down the body and pick a few more to stand guard. It’s still very dangerous out here.”
*****

Guo Shier passed through the Rune Gate. This was his first time using one. Even though he had a Rune Gate of his own, he has never used it. He didn’t know what to expect.

Stepping into the Rune Gate was like stepping off a cliff. His body fell down rapidly. This sensation sent his heart racing.

Countless silver lines flashed around. Even if he stared intently, he couldn’t see anything clearly.

After a minute or two, his body slowly came to a pause and he felt his feet touch the ground. He took a step forward and his surroundings became clearer.

“This is my Rune World,” Ku Mu declared blankly. “Later you can follow me to learn true attainment of Rune Mastery.”

“Rune Mastery?” Guo Shier asked, puzzled. He turned around and wiped the tears on his face.

Ku Mu was quick to reply. “Yes! True Rune Mastery! The Runes you studied before were of the lowest kind. Fortunately, you are still young. You can still be corrected.

“Are… are we here in an Advanced Rune World?” Guo Shier asked.

Ku Mu frowned. “Advanced Rune World? What do you mean?”

Guo Shier clarified his thoughts. “If there is a low-level Artificer and in this place exists the true Artificer—does this mean this is an Advanced Rune World?”

Ku Mu shook his head. “No, we are not an Advanced Rune World. If we make a distinction according to what you said, then you came from a low-level Rune World. This Rune World can be regarded as an Intermediate level. I know a more advanced Rune World—the people there are even more powerful.”

“More powerful than you?” asked Guo Shier.

Ku Mu was bothered by Guo Shier’s question. “Yes—more powerful than we are here. Your master, who is the top among you, is very common around here.”

Guo Shier was surprised. “This is really a higher leveled Rune World.”

“Come to me and don’t move,” Ku Mu ordered.

Ku Mu started to whip his hand around to conjure countless Runes from his fingertips. He quickly strung the Runes together to form 10 purple-red chains. The chains slowly wrapped themselves around Guo Shier and Ying Mo.

“Relax,” Ku Mu shouted. “This Rune chain won’t hurt you.”

Guo Shier curiously looked at the Rune chains wrapped around his body. He did not feel the sensation of being tied. The Rune chain was still a dozen centimeters away from his skin. He only felt a soft force bound around him.

“We are flying. If you feel scared, just close your eyes.” Ku Mu said.

Ku Mu suddenly flew up, taking the two with him.

Ying Mo couldn’t help but yelp. He had never tried flying through the air. Remembering Ku Mu’s instruction, he closed his eyes tightly and stopped himself from moving.

Guo Shier was indifferent. He jumped with a parachute from his previous life. He knew what it felt like being in the air.

Ku Mu was secretly observing their reactions. He found that Guo Shier’s expression was incredibly relaxed, even though he was looking around wide eyed.

Ying Mo, on the other hand, looked terrified. His eyes and lips were closed. Both of his hands were clenched.

Ku Mu was surprised and also satisfied. This child was indeed gifted and very different.

Ku Mu was flying very fast. The three were in a triangular formation in the air. Guo Shier was surprised to find that the Rune chains completely block oncoming wind. He couldn’t feel the wind nor the cold.

“Predecessor, where are we going?” he asked.

Ku Mu’s blank face showed a slight sign of emotion.

“You can still speak?”

“Yes,” Guo Shier answered, confused. “Why wouldn’t I be able to talk?”

Ku Mu sighed. This child really had balls. He had come across many people who peed their pants the first time they saw him. Is he not afraid? Or is he just numb?

“Very good!” Ku Mu finally said.

Guo Shier was even more confused now. “Very good?”

“Our faction is called the Chen Xiao Sect,” Ku Mu explained. It is a famous Rune Sect of this World. You’re one lucky child—all you have to do to join is to follow me.”

Guo Shier laughed in his head. Lucky? I am being forced to join right?

But he can’t talk back right now, so he just said, “Yes!” and then bowed his head.

Ku Mu was satisfied with Guo Shier’s response.

“We will be there soon.”

Meanwhile, two faint white lights came approaching from the distance. The two figures flew towards Ku Mu’s group.

“Who are they?” Guo Shier asked.
