Instant Kill 007:09-B Mysterious Virtual Path

Zhu Tien now finally understood Ku Mu. Compared to Guo Shier, his two little apprentices—who were stuck in the first circle—were not worth mentioning. The gap was too wide.

In the meantime, Guo Shier was getting more exited as he progressed further into the Mysterious Virtual Path. The Runes came out like a flood and was quickly absorbed by his Innate Rune Orb.

He gradually understood the meaning of being a true Artificer—from the best Rune production methods to the usage of low level Rune Spells. This special Legacy Rune Transference method was a hundred time faster than manually learning. This place directly poured the knowledge directly into his soul.

Gradually, Guo Shier reached the end of the second circle. He suddenly felt a faint pressure, but this did nothing to stop his footsteps. The Innate Rune Orb within his soul was spinning rapidly, resisting this pressure.

He continued to move forward. But as the amount of Runes spewing from the ground became too many to count, Guo Shier paused and consciously activated his Innate Rune Orb. These Runes were too precious too waste; from this point on, he took his time to actively absorb each and every one of them.

Although he couldn’t take out the Innate Rune Orb that originally sank into his soul, he could still directly activate it to attract the Runes floating around.

At the end of the second circle, the countless Runes felt like continuous tidal waves. Fortunately, he had his Innate Rune Orb to lighten the burden. As his Innate Rune Orb continued to spin faster, the numerous Runes gathered outside Guo Shier’s slowly got absorbed.

More new Runes gathered and started to turn bright golden.

Guo Shier now looked like he was wearing a dazzling golden armor from head to toe.

Yan Ziling was horrified. “What?!? That child is entering the third lap?!? Is he an Artificer Grandmaster? That’s impossible—he’s still a child!”

“Why is this impossible? Why not?” Ku Mu asked.

There was palpable hint of pride in his tone that he couldn’t hide. In the whole Chen Xiao Sect, who else had a disciple this excellent?

Zhu Tien was also gob smacked. “Are you kidding me?!? This child is already at the Grandmaster level?”

“Shier is the most powerful in our family!” Moni-er jokingly said.

Like a beacon, Guo Shier’s whole body turned bright golden, getting the attention of everyone watching.

“That kid is going into the third circle!” someone from the crowd exclaimed.

“Who is this kid? At such a young age, he’s actually hit the third circle! That’s incredible!” somebody else said.

As Guo Shier firmly stepped into the third circle, the crowd watching outside burst into an uproar. It was truly unexpected for a child to enter this stage.

Unknown to the people outside, Guo Shier was getting exhausted. It took considerable effort for his soul to continuously activate the Innate Rune Orb at high speeds for long durations. His strength is wavering, but he felt that he still had enough to spare, so he went further into the third circle.

“Whose child is this?!? Look! He’s still walking!” said someone from the crowd.

Ku Mu started to get tense. He wasn’t sure know how much further Guo Shier could go.

Moni-er was even more nervous. She unconsciously held on to Ku Mu’s arm as she stared at the Mysterious Virtual Path. Ku Mu frowned, but he let it slide and focused his attention on watching Guo Shier as well.

The deeper Gu Shier went, the more Runes emerged. In the first circle, the Runes looked like sporadic raindrops. In the second circle, they developed into a heavy downpour. By the third circle, they formed a flood.

Guo Shier was having a hard time absorbing all of them. He could only move little by little, but he refused to stop. He understood that once he stopped, he would have a hard time moving forward again. His was getting slower and slower, though.

He had a big harvest of Runes by this time. He wasn’t really thinking of showing off—he was more concerned about the benefits he would get from all of this.

The crowd outside was watching intently. Everyone started to take note of his progress, making bets on how far he could go.

“Hey! He’s about to reach the Middle-level Artificer Grandmaster!” someone shouted.

Meanwhile, Guo Shier started to feel immense pressure on his body upon reaching the Middle-level Artificer Grandmaster level.

He clenched his teeth and tried to hold on as he felt a stinging sensation in his soul. His pace was no longer calm—he was forcing himself to move forward, bit by bit.

He willed his Innate Rune Orb to go faster, but it could no longer be accelerated. Failing in this, he pushed his body onwards and concentrated on taking one step at a time.

“The stinging in his soul should be unbearable by now, but he’s still moving forward,” Yan Ziling murmured. “His perseverance is unbelievable. Such a great kid.”

Guo Shier was getting a strange sensation that his soul was about to snap. He sat down and rested immediately.

This gave him a chance to brainstorm and begin to recite the soul scriptures.

“An, Ma, Ne, Ba, Mi, Hong…”

When he finished the first verse, he felt less tingling and pressure. His body was once again able to absorb Runes at a faster pace.

He was overjoyed and continued to silently chant the soul scriptures.

“Whoa! He’s still going?” Zhu Tien said, amazed.

Everyone held their breath as they kept an eye on Guo Shier. The people present have all gone through the Mysterious Virtual Path many times and are very familiar with the pressure it applied on the soul. Even those who possessed strong will power could only travel a short distance.

Guo Shier’s pace was still much slower than before, but with his silent chanting, there was much less tingling in his soul and this Innate Rune Orb was able to absorb the Runes at a much faster rate.

With each heavy footstep he took, the Runes gushed out like fountains from the ground and steadily streaked into his body.

Finally, even with his chanting, he could no longer quell the agitation of his soul. He pushed himself to take two more steps and then sat himself slowly.

By this time, he has reached the end path of the third circle—which meant that he made it into the peak-level Artificer Grandmaster stage, according to the rules here.

Ku Mu was finally able to breathe. This result was beyond his expectations. He thought that Guo Shier would barely be able to get into the Grandmaster level. He didn’t expect for him to reach the end of the third circle.

Based on this performance, it won’t be long before Guo Shier could reach the Artificer Unbound Master Rank.

This level has blocked countless people—but with Guo Shier’s potential, passing this level would not be a problem at all.

Moni-er was still clutching Ku Mu’s arm tightly. She was very happy that Guo Shier held on as long as he did. After being lost in her own world all this time, she finally realized that she was holding Ku Mu’s arm. Flustered, she quickly let go.

They looked at each other for a second. Ku Mu thought to himself, What are you staring at me for? You were the one who grabbed me.

Zhu Tien couldn’t help but sigh at Guo Shier’s performance. Zhu Tien was amazed that this 10-year-old had the strength of a peak-level Artificer Grandmaster.

Everyone was equally amazed.

“Hey, is this child an inner gate disciple or a personal inheritance disciple?” someone from the crowd asked.

Yan Ziling sighed again and looked at Ku Mu. “Congratulations, Junior! I didn’t expect the cultivating madman to actually find an equally crazy disciple.”

Ku Mu couldn’t keep his feelings in any longer and began to show a creepy, stiff smile on his face.

There were a lot of peak-level Artificer Grandmasters in the Chen Xiao Sect. They were the backbone of the fighting force of the sect. But for the first time, Guo Shier—at age ten—reached the peak-level Artificer Grandmaster stage.

Guo Shier sat down on the ground and continued absorbing the Runes around him. His soul started to be filled with faint Rune marks. He started to feel amazing changes happening to his soul.

His Innate Rune Orb started growing. He was confident that he would soon be able fully control it and take it out of his body at will, whenever he wanted, if not for the numerous Runes that were still being absorbed into his soul. He still needed the help of the Innate Rune Orb to digest and absorb all the Runes.

Guo Shier continued to sit and meditate within the Mysterious Virtual Path for three days. Ku Mu, Moni-er, and Zhu Tien waited for him outside. Even Yan Ziling waited with them after his shift was finished.

In three days, Guo Shier was able to absorb all the Runes within his location. He was reluctant to leave, but he could no longer move forward even if he were to stand up now. He stopped hesitating and crushed the Rune hanging from his chest.

Guo Shier was instantly sent out of the Mysterious Virtual Path. The first thing he saw was Moni-er, who rushed towards him. She picked her up and hugged her tight.

“My little baby! You’re amazing!”

Guo Shier was so concentrated on walking that he didn’t know how far he reached in the Mysterious Virtual Path. He curiously asked, “How far did I go?”

“Until the end of the third circle, peak level Artificer Grandmaster,” Ku Mu calmly answered.

Guo Shier appreciated the benefits of finding the altar. If he didn’t go through the altar first, he would not have progressed so far in the Mysterious Virtual Path.

He smiled and showed how ecstatic he was. Moni-er saw this and was deeply moved. She couldn’t help but shower Guo Shier with kisses.

“Shier, let’s go back,” she said. “I’m going to cook some delicious food for you.”

“No. Instead of eating Rune Food, he needs time to consolidate his strength.” Ku Mu protested.

Moni-er couldn’t believe what she was hearing right now. She was about to swear at Ku Mu before Guo Shier hurriedly intervened.

“But Master, I’m very hungry,” Guo Shier said.

Only now did Ku Mu realized that they had not eaten for three days. “Alright,” he said. “Eat something first. I’ll take you to consolidate your strength afterwards.”

Zhu Tien walked to Guo Shier and asked, “Shier, I saw you finally getting exhausted by the beginning of third circle. How did you reach the end of the third path? Do you have any tricks? Hehe!”

Guo Shier was alarmed that someone actually noticed this. “Martial Uncle, I was just trying to move forward. I just concentrated on walking. I actually had no idea where I was.”

“Ku Mu, congratulations on getting a good disciple!” Yan Ziling exclaimed.

“He’s okay,” Ku Mu answered without any facial expression.

Yan Ziling smiled bitterly. “This is just okay? What would you call the other students if Guo Shier is just okay?”

Moni-er interrupted them. “Old Yan, just leave him alone. He’s a dork, you won’t hear a word of courtesy from him.”

An inner gate disciple walked over to their group. “Martial Uncle Ancestor, the Headmaster is asking you to bring your disciple over.”

Ku Mu was surprised. “The Headmaster is looking for me?”

“Yes,” said the inner gate disciple.

Moni-er did not like the situation. “Shier has not eaten anything for three days. We’ll go to the Headmaster after we’re done eating.”

Ku Mu nodded. “Report to the Headmaster that we’ll come over after Shier has eaten. I’ll take him to see the Headmaster later.”

“Well, it looks the Headmaster has taken notice of you,” Yan Ziling said.

    1. in most of the reincarnation stories, manga/novel, the mc usually find it hard to act like a kid in their new life. imagine dying at a very old age, maybe 70 or something and now that you’re reincarnated you’re expected to act like a toddler-which means being clueless or acting cute.

      1. I get the bit about acting the age, well he doesn’t really try most of the time to act his age (unless its to his advantage).
To me it feels like a separate matter though, acting your age and liking someone (appreciate their company or their good intentions) dosen’t have much to do with each other. After being (basically) kidnapped, i would feel more at ease (and apprecative) with friendly people around than antagonizing ones.

Well, maybe it will just take some time for him to appreciate the friendly lady.
